Slightly more comprehensive version made from the sketch animation I whipped up for nekonotaishou.deviantart.com/a...

What does 'twos' and 'ones' mean?
It means 11 drawings stretching 22 frames, each drawing being held for two frame (twos) or 11 drawings with one frame per drawing (ones)

The 7 frame cycle is on twos.

Framerate is 24fps.

I'm so tired of the inaccurate run/walk cycles.
Basic anatomy. It's not that hard profelisaurata.deviantart.com/...
Motion reference. It's also not that hard www.youtube.com/watch?v=CoL8Gt...

Feel free to use this as a guide or reference
All I ask for in return is CREDIT and a link back to this tutorial.

My main reference used to make this was www.arkive.org/grey-wolf/canis...

Someone please explain it to me. How do I end up drawing wolves when I don't even like them...?

fav.me/d73k7e7 Does it look good? I suck at running animations (thats why most of mine are usually not action animations LOL) so I really appreciate you making this ^^

is there anyway you have this by single frame shots, I find it easier when the cycle is one still shot at a time that I can see and try to draw from. 'l still give you credit but I need easier single frame by frame one shots if you have them. I can still give you credit, I just really need them for a map part I'm doing

They're animation terms.
'Ones' = 24 frames per second, the standard number of frames per second for animation.
'Twos' = 12 frames per second. Half as many drawings, or twice as long.

Oh wow, I knew the slower the animation, the more frames you needed but I didn't know it was THAT many o.O

24 frames is basically high quality animation because that is what is usually used in most cartoons if not more :3

I wish I had used this one instead of Preston Blair's... It would helped with my meerkat run cycle... If I redo it I'll use this as a reference if you don't mind.

It might not help you with a realistic meerkat run cycle, because meerkats and wolves just don't run the same way. I recommend using footage of real meerkats running as reference, because that's really the only thing that moves like a meerkat.

Thanks for making this, you see I tried looking at other's run cycle but the legs of the wolves really intertwine and then leap and for some reason it looked like a horse's run cycle rather than wolf? Plus this one shows more of the push-off of the wolf running.

You think so? I think on ones it's the most realistic in terms of how fast it would be moving in real life, when it's quite difficult to make heads or tails of the movements.
